In 1999, Fabiano started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil with Carlson Gracie student Murilo Rupp and Sergio Sa . There he was introduced to Mario Sperry, Mulio Bustamante , Ricardo Liborio and Luis Bebeo , founding members of the Brazilian Top Team (BTT) academy and invited Fabiano to train with BTT.

Fabiano received his black belt in a very fast three years and nine months. Shortly following this, Ricardo Liborio invited Fabiano to start training MMA and teaching BJJ in Olympia, Washington. While in Olympia, Fabiano began cross-training with fellow heavyweight Jeff Monson, as he worked to develop his MMA skills.

Andrew began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on July 25, 2006 at Gracie Barra Ballard in Seattle, Washington under the instruction of Professor Micah Reyes. He trained under Professor Reyes all the way from white belt to receiving his black belt on November 15, 2013. Andrew competed  successfully in a number of tournaments as a white and blue belt before needing a shoulder surgery from a boxing injury shortly after receiving his purple in May of 2009. After the surgery and realizing how beat up his body was from playing football, fighting, and not taking good care of himself, he decided to focus more on teaching and rebuilding than on competition. As a purple belt he began teaching classes more and giving private lessons to adults along with becoming the teacher of the kids jiu jitsu program at Gracie Barra Ballard for about a year and a half. As a teacher of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Andrew seeks to help others experience the fitness, self development, and fun that this practice has to offer. Coach Andrew moved to Portland in 2013 where he became a member of Gracie Barra Portland and a coach as well !
